bringing your change to LIFE!
“Insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results”
Albert Einstein
Do you finally want to make a lasting change?
-
Worried about a health condition or pain?
-
Want to transform your body, lose fat, build muscle, and tone up?
- Want to enjoy more success in your work or sport?
Well you are not alone.
The majority of us either live with some kind of physical ailment, want to change how we look and feel, or wish we could perform at our very best more frequently.
Although simple in principle, the experience of around 99.9% of people who attempt to change is that they struggle and revert back to their old selves within 3 months.
Like the saying goes "if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it".
But, some people do manage to do it - what is different about these people, what they do, and how they do it?
It is time to discover how to make your changes easier, more effective, and most importantly... lasting!
The Everyday Life Coach is your one stop solution
to enhanced health, wellness, and performance.
Figure 1. the Human Performance Pyramid
Human Performance is the ability of an individual to successfully complete both the psychological and physical (psychophysical) components of a task in a given environment in both the short and long term.
The process of achieving peak human performance can be best illustrated as a three step pyramid (see Figure 1.) where the base step is Health, the middle step is Wellness, and the top step is Performance.
The three steps build upon each other. If your ultimate aim is to improve performance then you can never reach your peak potential if the two supporting steps have not been firmly put in place.
Health is the foundation from which all energy flows. A baseline of health means being free of any underlying conditions, injuries, or symptoms at both a mind and body level. It means not relying on any drugs (prescription or otherwise) to mask your problems.
Wellness is the movement of energy into practices that can develop your psychological and physiological abilities.
Performance is the final application of energy to your developed abilities for the completion of a given task at a given time.
"I know what greatness looks like...
...and how to get you there."
“The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd.
The person who walks alone is likely to find themselves in places no one has ever seen before”
Albert Einstein
I was performance coach to Sir Lewis Hamilton during the 2010 Formula One season, managing his preparation, performance, and recovery strategies.
I worked at the world class McLaren Technology Centre (Woking, UK) for over 12 years developing and managing programmes of excellence for racing drivers, pit crews, and factory workers - integrating cutting edge technologies and data analytics with psychophysical (mind and body) interventions.
The world of high performance is fascinating as it relies on making small changes that most of us would never notice in our everyday lives, but which at the highest levels of competition separate the great from the good.
Figure 2. the Performance step
Performance is the pinnacle of the pyramid (see Figure 2.). It is the end product of everything we do day after day. It is often the piece that we measure ourselves on.

Lewis Carrol
No matter whether you are looking to improve your health, lose some weight, or are striving to become a world champion, The Everyday Life Coach can help you achieve your goals.
Physical training is as powerful as any medical drug. When you move the body (especially against resistance) then it puts into effect both short and long term changes. Depending on your current level of fitness, past training experience, injury history, and goals, we all react differently to exercise - some of us in a positive way towards our goals and others in a negative direction away from them and towards over training, possible sickness, and/or physical injury.
The best way to avoid this is to take the time initially to proper evaluate your goals, your available resources, and assess your posture and movement stability. Armed with this information you can structure an intelligent, tailored training programme that can safely and efficiently get you to your objectives.
Figure 3. the Wellness step
Wellness is the middle step of the pyramid (see Figure 3.) and encapsulates all of the practices which lead to both physiological and psychological adaptations which enable a higher level of consistent performance.

"Our health is often something we only value when we lose it but it underpins everything that we do."
"How you manage your energy, not your time, is the key to sustainable high performance and success."
Jeff Bezos
Where do you currently put your energy? Is it towards improving yourself, optimising how you perform, or is it in managing pain and/or disease or sickness? We all have a limited amount of energy, just like our time, but where are you currently putting yours?
The human body is a cybernetic organism - a system of physiological systems which from the outside can appear unrelated and in a state of perpetual chaos but in actual fact are are perfectly harmonised all of the time.
We tend to only become aware of them when they produce results which we might consider - undesirable.
This is feedback from the system which we often choose to ignore or worse, mask the symptoms with the use of medications until such time as too much damage has been done to hide it anymore.
Figure 4. the Health step
Health may be the bottom step of the pyramid (see Figure 4.) but it is the foundation upon which the practices of Wellness and the results of Performance are built. It is often neglected in favour of focusing resources on the other two steps resulting in reduced and often unsustainable adaptations.

Figure 5. graph of the relative contributions of physiology and psychology in both athlete and corporate populations
The world of corporate performance has always been closely linked to the domain of professional sport with successful athletes lecturing on what it took for them to succeed.
There are definite parallels between the worlds of sport and business, but there is a misconception that this means you have to be a physical athlete in order to perform at your peak.
A corporate athlete is rather an individual who takes best practice from the world of sport to ensure that they have the physiological capacity to perform their job during prolonged periods of high stress and pressure.
"Habits are choices. Only by raising your awareness are you empowered to make better lifestyle choices."
“World class isn't something you do just once a year...
...it's something you must be in every moment of everyday.”
